AUSTIN, TX—The Austin Independent School District will honor outstanding Latino students in 6th through 12thgrade at the annual Latino Academic Achievement Awards ceremony.
When: 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11
Where: University of Texas at Austin, LBJ Auditorium, 2315 Red River St.
Background: AISD will recognize more than 120 students and volunteers for accomplishments, including Outstanding Progress in the English as a Second Language Program, Appreciation of Culture and Language, Outstanding Community Service Volunteer and Young Latino Leader. The school district also requested nominations from the community for the Latino Parent Volunteer, Latino Community Service recipient and Latino Excellence in Advocacy awards.
