AISD Launches Student-hosted TV Show INSIDE AISD

Magazine-style Program Showcases People and Programs

Austin, TX—This Thursday, the Austin Independent School District is launching INSIDE AISD, an original television series that highlights the district's people and programs.

The 15-minute monthly series is hosted by three AISD high school students and is designed to showcase students and staff and promote district events, programs and initiatives.

"I am really excited about INSIDE AISD because it provides a unique way to explore Austin's school district. " Oscar Palomo, AISD TV supervisor, said. "This show allows the audience to learn about the activities in AISD, while giving a voice to the students, staff members and AISD community."

The first episode of INSIDE AISD airs at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 on AISD TV (Channel 22 for Time Warner Cable and Grande Communications customers and Channel 99 for AT&T U-verse customers). New episodes will air on the first Thursday of every month with re-runs occurring periodically during AISD TV's 24-hour programming cycle. Episodes also can be viewed on the AISD TV blog at: www.aisdtv.blogspot.com.

Elijah Blumofe from McCallum High School, Gabi Hadad from the Liberal Arts and Science Academy and Jessica Rico from the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders are three student-hosts of the program. Having students host the show, Blumofe says, makes the topics appear more relevant to viewers.

INSIDE AISD is an initiative of AISD TV and is part of the Department of Public Relations and Multicultural Outreach's mission to promote positive news about the school district.

Schools, departments and parent and student groups are invited to submit story ideas via email at goodnews@austinisd.org for consideration.
