First Austin ISD Police K-9 Officer Retires

Austin, TX—After 11 years of keeping the Austin Independent School District safe and drug free, K-9 officer Buddy is retiring from the AISD Police department. Buddy joined the district as its first K-9 officer in 2001.

Buddy is a two-time, Police Olympic medalist in narcotic detection, who is responsible for more than 1,000 narcotic related finds that have lead to arrest. Buddy's hard work has earned him the opportunity to assist Austin and Rollingwood police departments, Austin Community College and University of Texas police departments and the Travis County Sheriff's department. Buddy is responsible for recovering a large amount of cocaine and marijuana in a vehicle as part of "Project Delirium", a nationwide investigation with the FBI and other agencies.

Buddy will spend his retirement with his partner, AISD Police Detective Travis Pickford.
