Austin High Students Earn Accolades for Multimedia Presentations

Students from Austin High School have received numerous awards for their work in the areas of photography, graphic design, and multimedia/video production.

The students are winners in the Austin Convention and Visitor's Bureau Graphic Design, Photography and Multimedia Contest. The students were recently honored at the Austin Convention and Visitor's Bureau Luncheon, where they each received $500 scholarship checks presented by Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell.

The students were asked to create a photograph, design, or video celebrating Austin as the Live Music Capital of the World for 20 years.

The students and their awards are as follows:

  • Photography First Place: Paloma Pressley
  • Photography Semi-Finalists: Justina Lange, Eliot Blatt, Katelyn Alcantara, Emily Finkelstine
  • Graphic Design First Place: Marcelo Urieta Bravo
  • Graphic Design Semi-Finalists: Owen Liang, Kevin Espinoza, Jonathan Vail, Kelsey Elaine Silva
  • Multimedia/Video Winner: Leah Goetzel

Students from Austin High have also won first place in the Association of Texas Photography Instructors Top Program competition in Landscape/Nature Photography Portfolio. Those winning students are: Alyssa Alley, Rebecca Burnham, Wren Overesch, Jonathan Vail, Taylor Blackburn, Marcelo Urieta Bravo and Lindsey Lauritzen.
