Austin ISD Celebrates Juneteenth
You are invited to march in the annual City of Austin Historical Juneteenth Parade on Friday, June 19! Students, staff and community will march behind the Austin ISD Juneteenth banner along with the All-Star Band under the direction of Northeast Early College High School Band Director, Rory Guice.
Where to meet
Please arrive by 9 a.m. at the Rising Star Baptist Church located at 1710 E. 20th St, Austin, TX 78722. We will walk together to the parade entrance.
Length of Parade
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. The parade route is approximately 1.2 miles. We will reach the end of the parade route at approximately 11:30 a.m. If you park at the church, the bus will take you back immediately following the parade. You also have the option to attend the Juneteenth Park Festival at the Rosewood and Boggy Creek Park. The parade will end at Rosewood Ave and & Walnut St (near Millennium).
***Transportation to and from the parade is the responsibility of each parade participant.
What to Wear
- You are welcome to wear green, red, black or white.
- Wear clothing suitable for summer heat.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes.
- Bring water. Additional bottled water will be available during the parade.
- Sunscreen is highly suggested.
- Wear a hat and/or sunglasses.
- Austin ISD families are encouraged to attend and march with Austin ISD!
