Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is celebrated on the first day of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar, usually between January 21 and February 20. This year, it falls on February 17. Festivities last 15 days, with the first seven typically being public holidays. During this time, families reunite, children and young people receive gifts and homes are thoroughly cleaned to welcome good fortune and fresh blessings for the year ahead.
