MakerMania 2020

Date
Saturday, January 25, 2020 - 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Join us for MakerMania from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Navarro High School, 1201 Payton Gin Road.

Families, faculty, and the community are invited to attend this free, fun reading event that helps inspire children to become lifelong readers.

Learn how to make useful literacy tools from recycled and upcycled materials; and experience making predictions, recording observations, analyzing patterns, categorizing, inferencing, higher order thinking, and building background knowledge.

Every child takes home a free book and will have the opportunity to learn how to make bookmarks and other STEAM-related crafts.

Other MakerMania features include:

  • Light snacks and door prize giveaways for attendees in the first hour
  • Fair-style booths with a guide providing instructions on making take-away reading resources
  • Storytime read-alouds featuring maker stories and door prizes in the last half hour of the program

The event is hosted by Navarro Library along with the Burnet, Cook, Guerrero-Thompson, McBee, Padron, Wooldridge, and Wooten Libraries.
