Austin ISD will honor the heritage of African-Americans and their legacies throughout the school district.

This year's theme is "A Century of Culture." The program celebrates students for their consistent academic success, highlights fourth- and seventh-grade students for their competitive essays as the winners of a districtwide essay competition, and honors community leaders and stakeholders as award winners in the areas of: Giving, Educational Leadership, Volunteer Service, Distinguished Service and others.

This year's program also will feature entertainment from Akins High School.
