What: Disproportionality Town Hall Meeting

When: Thursday, November 3, 2011 - 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Disproportionality is the overrepresentation of a particular race or cultural group in a particular program or system. For example, African-American children are represented in the Texas Child Protective Services system at a higher rate than their percentage in the population.

What does that really mean?

It means that African-American children in GPS system

• spend more time in foster care,
• are less likely to be reunited with their families,
• and wait longer to be adopted than Anglo or Hispanic children
