It’s the season of giving! For some families across the district, receiving assistance with gifts relieves the pressure that can come with the holiday season.
The details: On Friday, Dobie Middle School in partnership with Austin Voices for Education and Youth held its annual “Gift of Giving Day”.
The Board of Trustees met Dec. 11 for its Information Session, which included updates from district leaders on the progress of Dobie, Webb and Burnet middle schools and data from the scorecard, focused on College, Career, and Military Readiness.
When schools are closed, it can be tough for some Austin ISD students to get healthy meals at home. Families may access community resources to locate food assistance in their area while Austin ISD offices and schools are closed for the winter break.
The primary focus of the Austin ISD Elementary Art program is to develop students’ artistic understanding and creative skills through hands-on art-making and visual exploration. Student artwork and exhibitions are a natural and appropriate outcome of this learning and reflect grade-level instruction and classroom experiences.
Austin ISD Fine Arts believes in strong music education because it develops well-rounded students through active music-making that builds discipline, creativity, collaboration, and critical listening while supporting confidence, perseverance, and social-emotional growth. Music instruction connects academic learning to real-world skills such as teamwork, goal-setting, time management, and technical proficiency, while also fostering cultural understanding and civic engagement through performance and ensemble participation.
