Last night, the Austin ISD Board of Trustees took important votes. The first focused on Texas Education Agency-required turnaround plans (TAPs) for campuses with three sequential unacceptable ratings and for campuses with two. The second involved a recommendation from the Austin ISD administration to close campuses. Some of the turnaround and targeted improvement plans also involved campus closures.

Our votes to move forward with the TAPs and close these schools will involve change for many students, educators, families, and neighborhoods.

Last night, our Austin ISD Board of Trustees voted to approve 24 state-mandated turnaround plans, marking a key milestone in our work to improve academic outcomes for students across the district and respond to the realities facing public education across our state today.

Today, we are releasing the first part of our recommended plan that includes programmatic relocations and changes related to turnaround plans, including school consolidations.
