CapMetro is helping to remove the transportation barrier for Austin ISD families by generously donating 7,300 single-day bus passes to Austin families.

Why it matters: Transportation to or from school can often be a challenge. While all children ride for free on CapMetro, these passes will help parents ride with their children, get involved on their campus or get where they need to throughout the city. 

How it works: Passes will be available to families district-wide on the first day of school, August 20, via referrals.

For the first time in the history of the Austin ISD Summer Theatre Series, a musical sold out completely, filling the Performing Arts Center to capacity. 

The Board of Trustees will meet for a special information session July 23 to discuss the possible Voter-approval Tax Ratification Election and long-range budget planning.

As Kate Knifton prepares to represent Team USA at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, she carries not only her own dreams, but also the hopes of her family and the Austin ISD community.

A proud Austinite and a graduate of McCallum High School, Knifton’s journey into Olympic rowing began during her junior year. She was inspired by the passion of her father and paternal grandfather, both professional rowers who competed but never made the Olympic team.

"I know it means a lot to them,” Knifton said. “They understand what I had to go through to make the team.”
