In celebration of Black History Month, Austin ISD invites the community to participate in a screening of “The Right to Read”.
The stories of a courageous activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight to provide our youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.
This community screening is FREE and open to the public. Seating is limited.
Austin ISD is kicking off the #BeTheChange Attendance Campaign in partnership with SaulPaul to urge all students to encourage their peers to attend school every day.
Why it matters: Attending school every day has a positive effect on students' social developmental and academic success.
By the numbers: Chronic absence rates in all grades across Central Texas have increased by at least 8% since 2019, according to E3 Alliance data.
This session will provide families strategies to support positive behavior at home that translate to fewer power struggles and improved relationships.

Austin ISD Early College High School student athletes will have new ways to stay cool and hydrated after the Austin Ed Fund and YETI partnered to donate coolers to school athletic programs.
YETI representatives, Superintendent Matias Segura and Austin Ed Fund representatives presented the coolers at the LBJ and Travis ECHS basketball game Tuesday.

Austin ISD Police Dispatch has been getting reports from community members who say they have gotten phone calls from people identifying themselves as Austin ISD Police Department employees.
The caller is repeatedly claiming the person has an arrest warrant and asks for Social Security numbers, and other sensitive information.
These calls are fraudulent. Austin ISD would not ask for sensitive personal information of this nature over the phone.
