Generally, what we look for in a principal is based on the Austin ISD Leadership Framework : instructional leader; talent developer; executive leader; and culture builder. When we select a new principal, we go to the community and ask what characteristics they’d like to see in the new principal as well through a survey.
For Architect Chad Johnson, designing the Rosedale School hit a little closer to home than most projects.
That's because his son Blake Johnson is a student at Rosedale and is part of the classroom for students with visual impairments within the medically fragile group. Johnson, an architect with Page, an architecture and design firm, helped design the modernized campus.

Join us for the Bond Steering Committees (BSC) regular meeting on Wednesday, March 9 from 6:00 –8:00 p.m.
The purpose of the Bond Steering Committee (BSC) is to utilize the district’s long-range plans, bond capacity, and other relevant information, to develop and prioritize a potential bond package for the November 8, 2022 election.
The Rosedale School will host a grand opening ceremony to celebrate its new campus on Monday, March 7.
As part of the 2017 Bond Program, the Rosedale School received a fully modernized campus, custom-built to the needs of its students. Austin ISD invites families and community members to celebrate the grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, campus tour and outdoor activities.
Two report cards about your campus are now available for you to review.
They’re called the State of Texas 2020–21 School Report Card and the Federal Report Card.
Why it matters: These report cards provide information about student performance on the STAAR test, as well as enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures.
The Parent Engagement Support Office (PESO), Austin Area Association for Bilingual Education (AAABE) and Families as Partners present, ADELANTE! Virtual Family Leadership Conference. The conference will feature four live zoom sessions around various topics including mental health & wellness, special educational and dual language programming.
