Angie Baca-Ross Teacher of the Year finalist

Teacher of The Year finalist Angie Baca-Ross, a bilingual kindergarten teacher at Joslin Elementary School, has served the district for four years, making a tremendous impact on her community by showing the value in communication between parents and caregivers.

"Being involved with my families is about getting to know each family respectfully––their struggles, their joys, their goals," she said. "It is about being an ally and a bridge to help them achieve success."

Summer School Enrichment 2025

Each week of the summer break will include a theme based curriculum to enhance the student experience. Most weeks will include a swim day and a field trip day with a few exceptions due to the three day weeks. On these weeks outside enrichment vendors will be brought in to provide activities.

Students, teachers will see more standard face-to-face instruction in 2021-22

Next school year will “absolutely” look more like a typical year, Austin ISD’s superintendent said at a community meeting Thursday.

“There is no substitution for the majority of our students, they need to be in a face-to-face type environment,” Superintendent Stephanie S. Elizalde said. “Especially now that so many of our staff have received the vaccine. We will continue to use the CDC guidelines as we move forward, whatever those are at that time.”
