AISD to Conduct Block Walk to Reconnect with Austin Families

Austin ISD volunteers will conduct a block walk to reconnect with Austin families to learn about their education needs and priorities––as well as welcome more learners to its family of schools.

Who: Austin ISD teachers, staff and community volunteers.

What: Austin ISD teachers, team members and community volunteers will participate in Operation Reconnect, a door-to-door campaign to reconnect with families and share information about district program offerings.

Thank a Librarian for National Libraries Week

This week, Austin ISD would like to recognize National Library Week, which promotes the use of libraries, and acknowledge librarians for their service to local communities.

National Library Week began in 1958 and was created by the American Library Association to help support libraries in the United States. Both school, public and academic libraries all participate in the week-long celebration. 

Austin ISD leaders selected to Inaugural Class of Austin’s African American Leadership Institute

Austin ISD leaders were selected to the inaugural class of Austin’s African American Leadership Institute. Dr. Tamey Williams-Hill and Dinita Caldwell were among 38 Austin professionals selected into this year’s institute. The program begins on April 9.

The African American Leadership Institute is designed to enhance civic awareness and leadership opportunities to lead to changes in practices and policies in Central Texas. The program is being launched with support and guidance from Leadership Austin and other advisors. 

Three Austin ISD Leaders Selected to Inaugural Class of Austin's African American Leadership Institute

On March 22, three Austin ISD leaders were selected to the inaugural class of Austin’s African American Leadership Institute. Dr. Tamey Williams-Hill, Dinita Caldwell and AISD Police Sergeant Wayne Sneed were among 38 Austin professionals selected to network and gain knowledge and history related to the Black experience in trending issues.

Austin ISD Juniors to Take the SAT on Campus in April / Los estudiantes de 11.° grado del Austin ISD tomarán la SAT en el plantel en abril

In April, 13 Austin ISD campuses will be administering the SAT during the school day to High School juniors at no cost to students.*

This is a great opportunity for students to access this pivotal test that’s a factor for college admission at most major universities. The benefits of taking the test during the school day include,

District Advisory Council (DAC) Meeting

District Advisory Council (DAC) is holding a virtual meeting on Tuesday, May 18 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

The District Advisory Council is a committee of parents, students, business and community representatives, teachers, principals, and other district staff. 

The mission of the DAC is to promote excellence in education for all AISD students through broad-based community representation. The DAC provides valuable input to the Superintendent and Board of Trustees, who ultimately have decision-making responsibility for the district.
