ENCORE Conference

Webb Middle School is hosting its fifth annual ENCORE conference: Empowering Students in the Digital Age. ENCORE is "Engaging Our Community in College Readiness."

This year's host is KEYE's Chris Saldaña, a two-time Emmy-winning TV anchor.

Programming includes workshops for families, a holiday dinner and a screening of the award-winning "Screenagers."

The event is free and open to the public.

MEDIA ADVISORY 12th Annual HopeFest Brings Community Resources to Reagan High School Community

This weekend, AISD and Austin Voices is sponsoring HopeFest, a community-led family resource fair at Reagan Early College High School. Last year's event brought in 4,000 people.

What: Services at HopeFest include health screenings, vision screenings, immunizations, health insurance as well as information about housing, employment, safety, education, prenatal support and adult education. Lunch, live music and lots of children's activities will also be available. HopeFest is also serving as a Blue Santa registration site.

Austin ISD Health Professions Program Could Bring More Students Opportunities in Health Careers

Austin ISD, in partnership with Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin and Austin Community College, today announced a proposal to launch a Health Professions Program. The program would prepare students for a career in health professions, and would accept applications from students districtwide. The program is dependent on the bond passing in November.
