Celebration to Honor Bettie Mann

Please join us at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 to celebrate and honor Bettie Mann, beloved former Lee Elementary School teacher and the first African-American educator at the school. 

A wing of Lee Elementary will be named for Mann, who taught every grade at the school, in a career spanning more than 40 years. 

Lee Elementary is located at 3308 Hampton Road. This event is free and open to the public.

On Thursday, January 19, 2017, Anderson High School will host The IB Experience, an information session on the school’s International Baccalaureate program. The event will feature an overview of the program, followed by a panel discussion with current and former students.

The IB program is a rigorous curriculum based on international standards of achievement which focuses on preparing students for success in a global society.

The program will start at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center of the school at 8403 Mesa Drive.

Current, Prospective Students Invited to AISD Middle School Fair on Dec. 3

Austin ISD invites current and future middle school students and their families to a middle school fair to introduce them to the diverse and innovative programming offered at AISD middle schools. 

The event gives students and families a single space to explore the many programs offered at AISD’s middle school campuses. It also allows families to speak with campus representatives, who can answer questions and explain their program offerings.

Austin ISD’s trustees approved the 2016 tax levy—the adopted tax rate multiplied by the taxable value of all property in the district’s jurisdiction—of $1,183,195,145.84 ($1.18 billion) at Monday’s board meeting.
