AISD Announces Schools Frozen to Transfers for 2017-18 / El AISD anuncia la lista de escuelas que no aceptarán peticiones de traslado para el ciclo escolar 2017-2018

Austin ISD has announced the names of 23 schools that will be frozen to transfers during the 2017–18 school year.

Each year, AISD determines which schools should be frozen to transfers because they have, or are expected to have, enrollments that exceed their capacities.

Facilities and Bond Planning Advisory Committee (FABPAC)

There will be a meeting of Austin ISD's Facilities and Bond Planning Advisory Committee from 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. Jan. 5 in board auditorium at the Carruth Administration Building, 1111 W. Sixth St. The Austin ISD Board of Trustees appoints citizens to the FABPAC to evaluate capital improvement needs of the district and to provide recommendations to the board on long-range facilities planning, on amendments to the Facility Master Plan and on the scope of work and timing of future bond programs. All regular meetings of AISD advisory bodies are open to the public. To speak before a district advisory body during a regular meeting, please consult the Citizens Communications and Visitor Guidelines, which can be found on the AISD website under Advisory Bodies. Citizens communication is limited to 10 minutes.

You may have noticed that your recent tax bill included a line item attributed to the Austin Independent School District. I would like to explain what happens to over a third of the school property tax dollars you may believe are being used to support our own Austin students.
