Facilities and Bond Planning Advisory Committee Meeting

The Board of Trustees appointed the Facilities and Bond Planning Advisory Committee to evaluate capital improvement needs of the district and to provide recommendations on long-range facilities planning; amendments to the Facility Master Plan; and the scope of work and timing of future bond programs. The FABPAC will hold its first meeting on October 29, 2015. AISD Trustee Jayme Mathias Elected to TASB Board of Directors

The Texas Association of School Boards has announced that it has elected Austin ISD Trustee Jayme Mathias to a one-year term on the TASB Board of Directors. He will represent TASB Region 13, position A.

TASB is a nonprofit association serving public school districts. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 5.2 million students.

Austin High School Matinee Shows: 'The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby'

Austinites of all ages are invited to see the Austin High School Red Dragon Players' production of "The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby."

Based on the novel by Charles Dickens, this adaptation by David Edgar was first produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1980.

Featuring more than 40 actors portraying 93 characters, this show is fast-paced and full of humor, drama and poignancy.

Matinee performances begin at 2 p.m. Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 at the Austin High School Theater, 1715 W. Cesar Chavez St.

Murchison Middle School Band Spring Concert

The Murchison Middle School band program presents its final concert of the year May 25 in the Anderson High School Performing Arts Center.

This free event begins at 7 p.m., and is open to all students, parents and community members.

Performing groups include the wind ensemble, symphonic band, concert bands and various small ensembles.
