According to the Texas Education Agency's preliminary state accountability ratings released today, 111 of the district's schools have Met Standard-the highest rating available-on the state's accountability system. Last year at this time, 109 of the district's schools had done so.

Following the release of state accountability ratings from the Texas Education Agency this Friday, Austin ISD will hold a news conference to announce the district's results.
Austin ISD students in 10th and 11th grade will take the PSAT/NMSQT exam.
Registration for adult ESL classes will take place from 6–8:30 p.m. Sept. 8 in the Reagan High School cafeteria. Please bring a government-issued photo ID and a pen.
The recent death of District 7 Trustee Robert Schneider has triggered inquiries about the resulting responsibilities of the Austin ISD Board of Trustees.
The board will meet Aug. 10 to discuss its options and determine next steps.
The board may fill the vacancy temporarily—until the next regular board election in 2016—or trustees may call for a special election in November 2015.
The board does not have the authority to appoint someone to complete the entirety of the unexpired term, which ends November 2018.
On Monday, Austin ISD's Board of Trustees approved a new principal appointment at Austin High School and new appointments to the roles of associate superintendent for high schools and executive director of construction management.

Amy Taylor was selected as the new principal of Austin High, having most recently served as principal of Small Middle School in Southwest Austin.
