Lanier High School to Host Special College Night With Guest Speaker Vince Young

Austin ISD’s Lanier High School will celebrate College Night with a special event presented by Austin Police Department’s Leaders in Knowledge and Support (LinKS).

Who: Guest speakers will deliver inspirational messages to students about attending college:

  • Vince Young, six-season NFL player and former University of Texas at Austin quarterback;
  • and former Lanier High School Principal Patrick Patterson

KLRU to Host AISD Interim Superintendent Dr. Paul Cruz at Town Hall Meeting

KLRU's public affairs program Civic Summit invites students, teachers and community members to ask Austin ISD’s finalist for superintendent, Dr. Paul Cruz, questions in a town hall discussion format.

Austin High Orchestra String Camp

This event is for fourth- and fifth-grade students who want to spend a day learning the basics of how to play a string instrument.

There will be a mini-concert at 2:30 p.m. No experience necessary, and instruments will be provided! Registration is $25 per musician.

AISD Classes Continue as Usual Today

Based on the most recent forecast available from the National Weather Service Friday, Jan. 9, classes and activities will operate on a normal schedule. 

There are multiple, extra-curricular activities scheduled throughout the weekend, so staff will continue to monitor the weather situation tonight and throughout the weekend. Updates will be provided as available. 

KLRU Civic Summit

What: KLRU will be hosting a Civic Summit open to students, teachers, and the community at large to ask Dr. Cruz questions before the school board votes to confirms him a superintendentThis townhall discussion will be moderated by Judy Maggio and PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Lab All-Star Kennedy Huff.   It will also be livestreamed at youtube.com/klru.
