Board of Trustees to Consider Paul Cruz for Superintendent

Austin ISD Board of Trustees President Vincent Torres announced at a news conference this morning that the board will consider Interim Superintendent Paul Cruz for the permanent superintendent position.

In a statement from the board, Torres said trustees had received "significant community support" for Cruz.

"The board consensus at this time is to change the process to allow Dr. Cruz to discuss his interest in the superintendent position," Torres said.

Austin ISD Board of Trustees Statement on the Superintendent Search Process

The Austin Independent School District Board of Trustees released the following statement regarding the Superintendent Search:

The Board began the process of seeking a new superintendent for the Austin Independent School District last May. Since then, we have worked with our search consultants at Ray and Associates, who have worked tirelessly to advertise for and recruit candidates based on the profile developed from community input, resulting in the submission of 98 applications. We have listened to the community throughout this entire process.

Lighting of St. John's Christmas Tree

United Way for Greater Austin will host the first St. John's community Tree Lighting. The holiday event will feature musical performances by Webb Middle School, face painting, crafts, snacks and a VIP Santa. All members of the St. Johns community and the public are invited to attend.

Austin ISD Seeks Input on 2015–20 Strategic Plan Survey

Austin ISD is working to create a 2015–20 Strategic Plan, and we want to hear from you.

The district is gathering input from parents, students, AISD employees and other community members on priorities related to education, community, staff and resources. We are also seeking input on the district's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges.

Board of Trustees to Announce Development Regarding the AISD Superintendent Search

The Austin ISD board of trustees met the weekend of Nov. 22 to interview the top superintendent candidates. After considerable discussions regarding the candidates, the Trustees have made decisions that will be shared at a news conference.
