Interim Superintendent Highlights Achievements and Challenges in State of the District Speech

AUSTIN, Texas—This morning, Interim Superintendent Dr. Paul Cruz delivered Austin ISD’s State of the District to a packed crowd, where Cruz declared, “The state of the district is strong.”

Centering on the theme, “We are AISD,” Cruz told guests that AISD exists to ensure Austin educates its students and that all students graduate from high school prepared for college, career and life.

Hope Fest at Reagan HS

What: Hope Fest at Reagan High School. 

HopeFest, in its 9th year, is a community festival of sharing and celebration for neighborhoods around Reagan High School. Community groups, churches, schools, nonprofit organizations, city/county agencies and neighbors from all over Austin will partner to meet needs and empower families with resources. Last year, 4,000 people came together for HopeFest!

Risk of Ebola Very Low in Austin ISD

Austin ISD is committed to the safety and health of all students and staff.  

On Sept. 30, doctors confirmed that a patient hospitalized in Dallas County had been infected with the ebola virus. This is the first imported case of ebola to be diagnosed in the United States.

As CDC Director Tom Frieden said in his Sept. 30 press conference, this incident poses very little risk to the American public.

Austin ISD Offering Free Flu Shot Clinics

Throughout the month of October, Austin ISD and H-E-B will host free flu shot clinics for AISD staff and family members.

Flu shots are free for anyone insured through AISD.* Flu shots are $22 for those not insured through AISD. Children younger than 7 must have a prescription.
