Dr. Paul Cruz, interim superintendent for Austin ISD, will be our guest discussing President Barack Obama’s "My Brother’s Keeper" initiative to help Hispanic and African-American youth.
AUSTIN, Texas—The Austin Independent School District will be closed for the Labor Day holiday, Monday, Sept. 1.
All AISD offices and schools will be closed during this period. The district will resume regular business hours Tuesday, Sept. 2.

AUSTIN, Texas—Today, Judge John Dietz once again ruled that the current school finance system violates the requirements of the Texas Constitution.
The Department of English Language Learners presents Sonia Nazario, author of Enrique's Journey, for two nights. The presentations will bring awareness of culturally relevant literary resources to the Austin ISD community, and bring attention to a sensitive and timely topic that is affecting the entire country.
Presentations will be from 6:30–8 p.m. at the Travis High School Auditorium, 1211 E. Oltorf St.

The Austin ISD Office of Academics, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Division at Austin Community College, would like to invite the community to the Vision + Voice reception from 6–8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at the new ACC Highland Campus, 6101 Airport Blvd. The reception follows the successful launch of the Vision + Voice poetry contest, an idea that came from the Literacy Action Plan to celebrate student writing.
