70 Austin ISD Students Attend Andy Roddick Foundation Summer Learning Program

Students lined colorful beach towels at Pecan Springs Elementary School’s lawn today practicing yoga as part of the Andy Roddick Foundation Summer Learning Program.

This five-week summer program allows more than 70 Austin-area students in kindergarten through fifth grade to attend summer camp and participate in activities from gardening to robotics.

The ninth episode of Season 2 of Inside AISD premiers at 6:30 p.m. June 12 on AISD Channel 22.

This episode is hosted by seniors Christian Haddad of Bowie High School, Rachel Hart of McaCallum High School and Raven Moreno of the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders.

Inside AISD airs at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and also at 8 p.m. every Saturday on AISD TV Ch. 22.

Bowie High School Graduates AISD's Largest Class of 2014

More than 660 students, their friends and families filled the Frank Erwin Center today to celebrate the achievemens of the Bowie High School class of 2014.

Interim Superintendent Paul Cruz spoke to the crowd about some of the school's awards and accomplishments this year, including U.S. News and World Report's ranking of Bowie among the top high schools in the nation. Bowie also earned the organization's Silver Medal Award for student achievement.

More Than 500 Akins Eagles Graduate

Akins High School pride was evident today as more than 500 seniors graduated in a ceremony at the Frank Erwin Center.

Interim Superintendent Paul Cruz spoke of some of the students' achievements, including: the senior phlebotomy practicum hosted the most successful blood drive in school history, 11 seniors passed their corrections officer certification exams and 11 passed their 911 dispatcher certification exams.

Lanier High School Celebrates the Class of 2014

Nearly 300 Lanier High School Vikings crossed the stage at the Frank Erwin Center today to graduate as part of the class of 2014.

Interim Superintendent Paul Cruz highlighted some of the seniors' achievements, including this year's launch of the Family Writing Project, two six-week courses that brought participants of all ages together on Saturday mornings to share their life stories and write.
