Keep an eye out for the Austin ISD enrollment team this month as they make their way through Northeast Austin, North Central Austin and Southeast Austin to engage in boots-on-the-ground community engagement!
Our teams and Austin ISD volunteers started knocking on doors to chat with families about why Austin ISD is the best fit for their students. The first of four canvassing events took place on Oct. 6 with three more planned Oct. 7, Oct. 15 and Oct. 17.
Driving the work: Our district enrollment numbers are short of our projections, so our teams are doing everything they can to help get students in the classroom. Along with the block-walking, staff will also be contacting families who aren’t enrolled via phone and direct emails.
- A quick school finance note: Texas funds schools by taking the average daily attendance based on a one-day enrollment snapshot on the last Friday of October. This year that’s Oct. 30, so our teams are working to recruit as many students as possible before our official date that impacts our funding.

Aumentan los esfuerzos de matriculación de octubre con las sesiones de caminatas por el vecindario
¡Estén atentos al equipo de matriculación del Austin ISD este mes, ya que recorrerán el noreste, el centro-norte y el sureste de Austin para participar en actividades de participación comunitaria en las calles!
Nuestros equipos y los voluntarios del Austin ISD comenzaron a tocar puertas para platicar con las familias sobre por qué el Austin ISD es la mejor opción para sus estudiantes. Las primeras cuatro jornadas de campaña se llevaron a cabo el 6 de octubre, y se tienen planeadas tres más para el 7, el 15 y el 17 de octubre.
El motivo de esta iniciativa: las cifras de matriculación de nuestro distrito están por debajo de nuestras proyecciones, por lo que nuestros equipos están haciendo todo lo posible para ayudar a que los estudiantes se incorporen a los salones de clase. Además de las visitas puerta a puerta, el personal también se pondrá en contacto con las familias que aún no se han matriculado por teléfono y mediante correos electrónicos directos.
- Una breve nota sobre el financiamiento escolar: Texas financia las escuelas tomando como referencia la asistencia diaria promedio basada en un registro de matriculación de un solo día el último viernes de octubre. Este año, esa fecha es el 30 de octubre, por lo que nuestros equipos están trabajando para reclutar a tantos estudiantes como sea posible antes de esa fecha oficial que influye en nuestro financiamiento.
