It’s the season of giving! For some families across the district, receiving assistance with gifts relieves the pressure that can come with the holiday season.
The details: On Friday, Dobie Middle School in partnership with Austin Voices for Education and Youth held its annual “Gift of Giving Day”.
- Dobie MS students selected gifts for themselves and up to two siblings.
- Approximately 1,400 gifts were donated thanks to sponsors such as Austin Chinese church, Angel Martinez BMX Community, Toys for Tots and Austin Voices.
What they’re saying: “We’re pleased and thankful Dobie Middle School is participating and to be given this opportunity,” Dobie Middle School Principal Michael Walker said. “We’re thankful as a campus to receive this kind of support from the community.”
On Thursday, Webb Middle School hosted the 2nd Annual Jingle-Bell Bash sponsored by Dell Children’s Health’s Plan and Austin Voices.
- Nearly 900 toys were sponsored and distributed—allowing each family to receive three toys during the event. The event was open to the community.
- Families received toys, gift cards, car seats, flu shots, blankets, hot cocoa, jackets, and snacks.
- Families also had the opportunity to play and learn with their children through engaging activities in literacy, math, and science.

Los estudiantes del Austin ISD reciben juguetes y regalos en estas fiestas navideñas
¡Es la temporada de generosidad! Para algunas familias del distrito, recibir ayudas en forma de regalos es un alivio ante la presión que puede suponer la temporada navideña.
Los detalles: El viernes, la Escuela Secundaria Dobie, en colaboración con Austin Voices for Education and Youth, celebró su «Un Día para Dar» anual.
- Los alumnos de la Escuela Secundaria Dobie seleccionaron regalos para ellos mismos y para hasta dos hermanos.
- Aproximadamente 1400 regalos fueron donados gracias a patrocinadores como la iglesia china de Austin, la comunidad BMX Angel Martinez, Toys for Tots y Austin Voices.
Lo que dicen: «Estamos encantados y agradecidos de que la Escuela Secundaria Dobie participe y que nos hayan dado esta oportunidad», dijo Michael Walker, director de la Escuela Secundaria Dobie. «Como escuela, estamos agradecidos de recibir este tipo de apoyo por parte de la comunidad».
El jueves, la Escuela Secundaria Webb acogió la segunda edición anual de la Fiesta Jingle-Bell, patrocinada por el Plan de Salud de Dell Children's y Austin Voices.
- Se patrocinaron y distribuyeron cerca de 900 juguetes, lo que permitió que cada familia recibiera tres juguetes durante el evento. El evento estuvo abierto a la comunidad.
- Las familias recibieron juguetes, tarjetas de regalo, asientos para automóviles, vacunas contra la gripe, mantas, chocolate caliente, chaquetas y aperitivos.
- Las familias también tuvieron la oportunidad de jugar y aprender con sus hijos a través de actividades divertidas relacionadas con la lectoescritura, las matemáticas y las ciencias.
