We are delighted to share the exciting results of the 2025 Austin Trail of Lights Essay & Illustration Contest! 

The details: The contest, open to Austin ISD 4th and 5th grade students, invited submissions based on the following topic, “Draw a picture of the one gift you would like to give to everyone in the world. Explain what the gift is, why you chose it, and how it would help people.” The contest highlighted inspiring ideas and beautiful work from outstanding students across our schools.

Congratulations to this year’s winners:

• The Grand Prize Winner is Luis (Junior) Dimas, a 4th Grade student from Barbara Jordan Elementary. Luis' winning entry was titled “The Gift of Equality”. His teacher, Ms. Andrea Pearson, is also recognized for this achievement.
• Serhan Hossain is a 4th Grader attending Bear Creek Elementary. Serhan's entry was called “The Empathy Stone”. His teacher is Ms. Christina Mantica.
• Arthur Burnham is a 5th Grader from Zavala Elementary School. Arthur’s entry was titled “The Gift of Food,” and his teacher is Mr. Jorge Dominguez.

What’s next: Luis will receive the special honor of turning on the lights at the 2025 Austin Trail of Lights Grand Opening Ceremonies on Dec. 10. 

• Additionally, all three finalists are invited to attend the ceremony and will be recognized for their achievements.

Celebrando la creatividad: se anuncian los ganadores del concurso Austin Trail of Lights 2025

¡Nos complace compartir los emocionantes resultados del Concurso de Ensayos e Ilustraciones Austin Trail of Lights 2025!

Los detalles: El concurso, abierto a los alumnos de 4.º y 5.º grado del Austin ISD, invitaba a presentar trabajos basados en el siguiente tema: «Haz un dibujo de un regalo que te gustaría dar a todas las personas del mundo. Explica qué es el regalo, por qué lo elegistey cómo ayudaría a las personas». El concurso destacó las ideas inspiradoras y los hermosos trabajos de alumnos destacados de nuestras escuelas.

Felicitaciones a los ganadores de este año:

• El ganador del gran premio es Luis (Junior) Dimas, un estudiante de 4 º grado de la escuela Primaria Barbara Jordan. La obra ganadora de Luis se titulaba «El regalo de la igualdad». Su maestra, la Sra. Andrea Pearson, también ha sido reconocida por este logro.
• Serhan Hossain es un alumno de 4.º grado de la escuela Primaria Bear Creek. La obra de Serhan se titulaba «La piedra de la empatía». Su maestra es la Sra. Christina Mantica.
• Arthur Burnham es un alumno de 5.º grado de la escuela Primaria Zavala. La obra de Arthur se titulaba «El regalo de la comida» y su maestro es el Sr. Jorge Domínguez.

Lo que sigue: Luis recibirá el honor especial de encender las luces en la ceremonia de inauguración del Austin Trail of Lights 2025, el 10 de diciembre.

• Además, los tres finalistas están invitados a asistir a la ceremonia y serán reconocidos por sus logros.
