426 Seniors graduate from LBJ ECHS and LASA

The LBJ Early College High School and Liberal Arts and Science Academy community of teachers, staff, families and friends joined graduating seniors at the Frank Erwin Center today to celebrate the Class of 2019.

Superintendent Paul Cruz congratulated 180 LBJ ECHS and 246 LASA graduates, and recognized some of the class's achievements.

For the first time in the history of the school, a Jaguars cross country team won at the dtate level.

LBJ ECHS Salutatorian Adriana Martinez thanked her family, teachers and friends for their support during her time at LBJ ECHS.  

“My parents have done everything to help me realize my dreams, and everything I do is for them,” she said.

LASA Valedictorian Evan Hochstein, spoke of life and loss during his commencement speech, having lost two friends during his high school years.  He shared words of hope for the future class of 2019.

“My greatest accomplishments are: I started high school as a nerd and I’m leaving as a nerd, and I started here gay and I’m coming out gay," he said.

LBJ ECHS Principal Paulette Walls and LASA Principal Stacia Crescenzi congratulated the graduating classes on all they have achieved.
