Austin ISD anticipates that the combination of SXSW and President Barack Obama's visit on Friday, March 11, will have a significant effect on district operations.
To help minimize complications for our families, staff and students, the district will take several steps, including an early release at 17 campuses.
At the campuses we expect to be most affected by the additional traffic March 11, AISD will release students at 12:30 p.m. This applies to students and staff only at the following campuses:
- Ann Richards School, Austin and LASA high schools and LBJ Early College High School
- Fulmore, Kealing and O. Henry middle schools
- Barton Hills, Becker, Dawson, Galindo, Pease, Mathews, Travis Heights and Zilker elementary schools
- Rosedale School
- Clifton Career Development Center
The early release applies to the listed schools only.
Classes and transportation will continue as scheduled at all other campuses. However, if families pick up their students early from other campuses, it will be counted as an excused absence.
Families should understand that Friday’s traffic may affect all our bus routes, potentially delaying any student who rides an AISD bus.
