Dear Austin ISD Families,

I sincerely regret the recent experiences that many of you have encountered with GradeBook and the Parent Cloud. Regrettably, while the transition to this new program was well intentioned, there have been technical difficulties. We are aware of these issues and will continue to work diligently to resolve them.

The district is offering the following support for those in need of assistance with GradeBook:

• On-site trainings at noon and 6 p.m. Oct. 14 and Oct. 21 at AISD’s Baker Center, 3908 Ave. B, Austin, TX 78751
• Extended-hours phone support during the following times. Please call (512) 414-9187.

Saturday, Oct. 11: 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 12: Noon-5 p.m.
Monday – Friday, Oct. 13-17: 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.

 I do believe the benefits of the new program outweigh the challenges that can go along with switching to new software. They include:

• Information in GradeBook is generated from the district’s own database of each student’s schedule, grades and absences, therefore providing real-time access to information.
• GradeBook offers a mobile version as well as better notification features than the previous system.
• With GradeBook, the district will save $82,000 annually in software costs alone. The cost of continuing with the new company’s software or another vendor would have been significantly higher.

This new system offers parents, teachers and administrators secure, convenient access to student data. Moving forward, I am confident that we will all be able to rely on GradeBook to support student achievement.

Estimadas familias del Distrito Escolar Independiente de Austin:

Lamento mucho las experiencias que muchos de ustedes han tenido recientemente con el GradeBook y la Parent Cloud. Desafortunadamente, aunque la transición a este nuevo programa tuvo la mejor intención, hemos tenido algunas dificultades técnicas. Estoy consciente de estos problemas y seguiremos trabajando con diligencia para solucionarlos.

El distrito está ofreciendo apoyo para aquellas personas que necesiten ayuda con el GradeBook de la siguiente manera:

Creo que los beneficios que ofrece el nuevo programa son mayores que los desafíos que representa el cambio a un software nuevo. Entre ellos:

• La información de GradeBook se genera de la base de datos del distrito según el horario de cada estudiante, sus calificaciones y ausencias, por lo tanto la información está actualizada.
• GradeBook ofrece una versión para dispositivos móviles, así como mejores maneras de notificación que el sistema anterior.
• Con GradeBook el distrito se ahorrará anualmente $82,000 solo en el costo del software. El costo de continuar con el software que teníamos o con el de cualquier otra compañía hubiera sido mucho mayor.

Este nuevo sistema les brinda a los padres de familia, maestros y administradores, un acceso conveniente y seguro a la información del estudiante. Confío que en lo sucesivo todos podremos contar con GradeBook para apoyar el rendimiento estudiantil.
