The Austin Independent School District is pleased to once again partner with SXSWedu. Education’s most energetic and innovative leaders from all backgrounds of the learning landscape including teachers, administrators, university professors, business and policy leaders converge each March at the SXSWedu Conference & Festival. The four-day event is a platform for the growing SXSWedu community to connect, collaborate, create and change how we teach and learn.

Coverage of SXSWedu by AISD student reporters
Students from AISD schools, including Anderson, Bowie, Crockett, LASA, Reagan and Travis, will attend and cover the conference. The student journalists will cover SXSWedu for their schools’ student newspapers and the district’s website, social media channels and event blog. The district's Department of Communications and Community Engagement is working with SXSWedu and Compass Learning to create an opportunity for AISD students to secure press credentials to cover the event, including AISD-related speakers and the Education Expo.

Community Celebration

Austin Convention Center Exhibit Hall 4, NEXT Stage
Representatives of the Austin Energy Regional Science Festival will kick off this celebration by highlighting the works of local science fair winners in attendance. Immediately following, SXSWedu Featured Speaker, Jack Andraka will address the Ed Expo audience reflecting on his experiences as winner of the 2013 Intel International Science & Engineering Festival. Concluding the celebration will be Austin Superintendent of schools Meria Carstarphen speaking directly to Central Texas students and families. Learn more.
