AISD to Operate on Two-Hour Delay Tuesday, Jan. 28

This evening, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Austin area until noon tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 28. Out of an abundance of caution, Austin ISD will open schools and run district buses on a two-hour delay tomorrow.

The district will continue to monitor the weather, and will only call you again at or about 6 a.m. only if the district needs to cancel school tomorrow. Otherwise, plan for the two-hour delay.

AISD will excuse tardies for students and staff members due to weather or circumstances related to inclement weather.

To learn how specific bus routes may be affected, please call AISD’s transportation department between 7:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. at 512-414-0238.

Stay safe and stay warm. Bundle up!

How does the two-hour delay affect school start times?

Regular school hours vary depending on the grade levels at the campus. Generally, AISD's schedules for school start times are: 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. for elementary schools; 8:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for middle schools; and 9 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. for high schools. Variations may exist for kindergarten classes or high school and magnet school schedules. Please plan your schedule by adding a two-hour delay based on your school's scheduled start time for today. The end time is not affected by the two-hour delay.
