Cunningham Elementary School's MicroSociety Program Receives Community Support

Recently, the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's (GAHCC) Educational Team announced it would provide funding and support to Cunningham Elementary School's MicroSociety Program—a nationwide after school program that prepares students for real-world experiences.

The program at Cunningham was created with support and licensing from Circle C CDC and through a partnership with the A-Plus Federal Credit Union, who helped Cunningham build a student-led credit union within the MicroSociety program, providing furniture, currency, cash boxes, employee vests, wallets, ledger books and training. The additional support from the GAHCC will help match the school with business partners who can help assist students in creating other simulated business ventures. This will include menoring, the building of business facades and training.

The Cunningham community is proud to have the support of the Austin business community in preparing its students to succeed in their real-world experiences.
