Sunset Valley Celebrates 40th Anniversary on Dec. 1

Sunset Valley Elementary will be celebrating their 40th anniversary by hosting two ceremonies on Thursday, December 1, 2011. The first will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and the second will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Both events will be held at the campus located at 3000 Jones Rd. and will include a history of the school dating back to the 1970s, when the school first began.

There will also be appearances by former principals and music performed by former students. Sunset Valley Elementary is asking that all alumni please stop by and join in on the festivities.

Planned program:
Welcome from Principal Kim Placker
Introduction of guests
Short remarks from past principals
Video address from former principal Johnny Boone
History of the School narrated by students with slide show
Performance of old and current school songs
Closing remarks from Kim Placker
Performance by St. Edward's Brass Quintet (6:30 p.m. program only) (This group includes Sunset Valley computer teacher Michael Bell and former Sunset Valley parent Ted Rachofsky)
Reception in Library (for the morning program the kids will go off with their classes)

Attendees can also purchase a book about the history of the school at the event for $10.
