AISD to Provide Free Meals for All Students for 2021-22 School Year
When students step onto an Austin ISD campus in the 2021-22 school year, they can rest assured they’ll be able to get a healthy lunch at no cost. The United States Department of Agriculture announced on April 20 they are extending free meal benefits through June 2022, allowing Austin ISD to keep serving its free lunches.
McCallum Knights Celebrate 65th Commencement
McCallum High School honored about 400 students at its graduation ceremony this morning at the Frank Erwin Center. Several speakers noted the school’s football success this year with an undefeated regular season. Valedictorian Davis Roe congratulated the Class of 2018, while thanking all of those who had helped them throughout high school.

TAKS Retesting Available In October To Out-Of-School Students
Austin, TX—Texas Assessment of Knowledge & Skills (TAKS) retesters, or students who still need to pass a portion of the Exit Level TAKS tests to earn a high school diploma, may register to participate in the October administration of the TAKS Test being held at campuses throughout the Austin Independent School District (AISD) from Oct. 18 to Oct. 21.

Budget Brief: Budget Town Hall Update
A series of Budget Town Hall listening sessions concluded on Feb. 23. A new format was introduced, creating space for more authentic, organic conversations. Akins Eagles Celebrate Graduation
The Akins Early College High School community, staff, families and friends joined together June 15 to celebrate the 2020 graduating class through a virtual ceremony. Superintendent Paul Cruz congratulated the graduates of this year's class via a video statement. His remarks were followed by a speech from Principal Tina Salazar.

RaceTalks (pláticas acerca de la raza)
We’re opening a door for Austin ISD parents and caregivers to start a conversation about race in our community. We’re calling it RaceTalks, and it will begin with a 90-minute conversation on Juneteenth, June 19. We will gather each month for a conversation, with a different focus each time.
