Local Accountability System (2018 and Beyond)
House Bill (HB) 22 established Local Accountability Systems (LAS) which allow districts to develop plans to locally evaluate their campuses. Austin ISD is one of 20 districts selected by the Texas Education Agency to participate in the LAS pilot project. This pilot program will inform the full roll out of the local accountability system option for the 2018–19 academic year.
Cap Metro Extends the Summer Fun: All students ride free through Dec. 10
Now through Dec. 10 all students with a valid school ID can ride any Cap Metro transit free-of-charge—an extension of their summer offer of free public transport to all kids. To take advantage of this, students must show their school-issued ID to the bus operator or fare inspector. Austin ISD Offers Eligible Students Free and Reduced-Price Meals
As in previous years, Austin ISD is encouraging families to apply for free or reduced-price meals.A new meal benefits application must be submitted each school year. While applications are accepted throughout the school year, to ensure benefits go uninterrupted, applications should be submitted by Oct. 2 to receive free or reduced-price meals for the 2017–18 school year.

LASA Student Named Among Finalists in Regeneron Science Talent Search 2021
Austin ISD Liberal Arts and Science Academy student Sam Christian has been named a top 40 finalist in the 80th Regeneron Science Talent Search, earning him $25,000 in the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors.
