Top Story: Bus Riding Protocols Austin ISD is committed to providing safe, reliable transportation to our students. We are implementing protocols that all families who qualify for bus transportation should know if they plan on using this service. Dig it: City Honors Bowie Science Teacher for Protecting School's Cave
The Austin City Council honored Bowie science teacher Jill Harding on May 18 for her work in making the "Bowie Cave" an educational resource for Bowie High School students.As the school was being built in 1989, a cave was discovered underneath the science wing. In 1995, Harding led an effort to make it safe for the public to access and explore the cave.
Community Bond Oversight Committee Meeting
The Board of Trustees appoints individuals to the CBOC to ensure that bond projects remain faithful to the scope of work approved by Austin voters.All bond projects will be overseen by the CBOC.For more information about the CBOC, visit austinisd.org/advisory-bodies/cboc.
Trustees Approve Calendar for 2018–19 School Year / Mesa Directiva Aprueba el Calendario Para el Ciclo Escolar 2018-19
Austin ISD trustees last night approved the calendar for the 2018–19 school year.Three options had been presented to students, staff and families for voting Nov. 20–Dec. 15.Calendar A received the majority of the votes, with 11,388. Calendar B earned 5,262 votes, and Calendar C received 8,077 votes.

AISD to Provide Free Meals for All Students for 2021-22 School Year (En español)
By Lindsey Bradley When students step onto an Austin ISD campus in the 2021-22 school year, they can rest assured they will be able to get a healthy lunch at no cost. The United States Department of Agriculture announced on April 20 they are extending free meal benefits through June 2022, allowing Austin ISD to keep serving its free lunches.
