Fitness Wins at Barton Hills Elementary
Barton Hills Elementary is one of only 525 schools in the nation to win the Let’s Move! Active Schools National Award for creating a physically active school environment. Let’s Move! Active Schools is an initiative of first lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! program that awards schools for integrating 60 minutes of physical activity before, during and after school.

EDF Climate Corps Fellow Uncovers Energy-saving Opportunities for Local Schools
Austin ISD hosted 2015 EDF Climate Corps Fellow Maxwell Sykes this summer to help the district better manage its energy use and costs. Sykes presented his findings at a community showcase on September 17 where he outlined a plan for achieving estimated annual energy cost savings of $1.7 million to $5.2 million per year.
