Implementation
Implementation in Austin ISD Beginning in 2010, SEL implementation began rolling out systems and strategies through AISD’s vertical team structure. A vertical team consists of a high school and its feeder middle and elementary schools. As of 2015–16, all schools in AISD are officially implementing SEL.

Austin ISD Board Adopts a $1.6 Billion Budget
The AISD Board of Trustees at its June 22 Regular Voting Meeting approved the adoption of the Fiscal Year 2021 budget totaling $1.6 billion. The budget includes a number of investments to support student learning and staff throughout the next year. The budget includes $21 million in compensation related increases, including:

Health and Physical Education textbooks open to family review
Austin ISD families can review health and physical education textbooks and provide feedback via a survey. Why it matters: This is the first time in 14 years that the textbooks have been revised. It’s also the first time in 24 years that the state has revised what it requires us to teach (what they call the Texas Essential Knowlege and Skills, or TEKS).

Austin High Basketball Captain Lends a Hand with 'Shoes for Two'
Austin High School senior and basketball captain Lucas Renfroe is not just assisting his teammates on the court this season, he’s lending a helping hand to those in need.Renfroe and his father, Mark, founded Shoes for Two, a nonprofit group that receives donations of lightly used shoes, cleans them, boxes them and then distributes them to children or organizations in need.
