Austin ISD Board of Trustees Name New Facility the Anita Uphaus Early Childhood Center
Austin, TX—The Austin Independent School District's Board of Trustees voted unanimously to name the new Early Childhood Center in honor of Anita Uphaus, a former teacher and early childhood coordinator.The Anita Uphaus Early Childhood Center, located at 5200 Freidrich Lane in East Austin, is scheduled to open in the fall. The center was built utilizing funds from a bond approved by voters in 2008.
AISD Student Participation in SAT Continues to Increase
Austin, TX—Austin Independent School District (AISD) student participation in the SAT test continued to increase in 2011. AISD students outscored their counterparts in the state in Critical Reading, Math and Writing, while students’ average score was above that of the nation in Math, according to data released by the College Board today.

Parenting with Love and Logic Mini Workshop
The Austin Independent School District’s Parent Support Office will be offering a free one-night workshop focused on “Parenting with Love and Logic" Saturday, Feb. 25 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Allan Elementary School, 4900 Gonzales. The event will provide parents with simple and practical techniques to effectively handle challenging child behaviors. The workshop is offered in English and Spanish.

Students Across AISD Bring Summer Theatre Series to Life
Mamma Mia! Here we go again. The AISD Summer Theatre Series is back at the AISD Performing Arts Center. The series runs July 15-18 with productions “Still Life with Iris,” “Charlotte's Web,” and July 23-25 with “Mamma Mia!” The productions feature students in grades 5-12 from throughout the district as actors, dancers, and tech crew.
