For some teachers, there’s been an extra challenge as they prepare lessons for the year – making sure they don’t violate new laws passed by the Texas Legislature.
Austin ISD UpClose program celebrates 32 new graduates
More than 30 Austin ISD community members graduated today through the district’s UpClose program, which offers a front-row view of district operations. The 32 Up Close graduates completed a year-old program to learn about the district's infrastructure, programs and services, as well as the challenges and opportunities for improvements.
Austin ISD Budget Community Conversations
Austin ISD will host a series of community conversations in April on its 2017-18 budget.The first gathering is from 1–2 p.m. April 26 at the AISD Performing Arts Center.April 27 will offer a pair of opportunities: 1–2 p.m. at the Baker Center cafeteria, and 6–7:30 p.m. at the Carruth Administration Center. The latter meeting will be televised on AISD.TV and livestreamed on Austinisd.org.

Families can join us in person to register their students for the 2021-22 school year. Multiple locations available so families can register students at any campus for any school or grade level. AISD Gets the Blood Pumping with Healthy Bike Ride and Welcome Back Press Conference at Zavala Elementary Today
Austin Independent School District (AISD) Superintendent Meria Carstarphen kicked-off the 2011-2012 school year this morning by joining the bike club of Zavala Elementary School, the "Freewheelin' Mustangs," for a ride around their east side neighborhood. Zavala Elementary, celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, hosted the back-to-school event and press conference.
