Counseling, 24-hour Hotline Available for Students, Community Following Incident at Lanier
AUSTIN, Texas—Following a tragedy at Lanier High School today in which a student succumbed to a fatal, self-inflicted wound at approximately 12:04 p.m., AISD continues to provide counseling services until 6 p.m. today, and throughout the week.The AISD community is deeply saddened by this and our thoughts are with the family.

Superintendent Segura awards Golden Rave for Dyslexia Awareness Month (En Español)
In honor of Dyslexia Awareness Month, Superintendent Matias Segura made a special visit to Palm Elementary School to recognize Dyslexia Interventionist Jessica Gomez with a Golden Rave Award! The details: Gomez has been part of Austin ISD for 21 years and goes above and beyond to provide specialized instruction and resources that help her students succeed.
District and community continue work of evaluating budget reductions (En español)
The Ad-Hoc Joint Community Budget Committee continues its work to identify opportunities to reduce costs. As cost-saving opportunities are found, the administration will evaluate the potential budget reductions using the newly developed equity rubric.
A Message from the Superintendent: Save Texas Schools Rally
Dear AISD Teachers, Principals and Staff, I want to make you aware of an opportunity for the Austin community to support our public schools. Save Texas Schools will be holding a statewide rally at the Capitol from 10 a.m.–noon Saturday, April 18, to support fair and equitable funding for public schools, continued reform to our testing system and community-based supports for struggling schools.
