Austin ISD is considering Third Future as the future partner for Mendez Middle School. To learn more about them, visit their website. Background Since 2014-15, Mendez Middle School has not met standards on the state’s accountability rating. That led to Austin ISD entering an 1882 partnership with T-STEM Texas to turn the school around and meet standard.

Austin ISD Celebrates Grand Opening of Eastside Early College High School
Yesterday, Austin ISD, Eastside Early College High School celebrated the grand opening of the new modernized campus, built as part of the 2017 Bond Program. Families, teachers, staff and community members joined AISD and Eastside ECHS leadership in an evening focused on academic excellence and filled with spirit.
Sustainability in Action at Govalle Elementary School
Earlier in April, AISD Urban Forester Matt Mears worked with students to plant seedlings in Govalle Elementary School's new open field. The seedlings came from a beloved tree that was removed from the site due to poor health and safety concerns. “Family tree” takes on a whole new meaning at Govalle as future students play and learn under the shade of this new generation of legacy trees.
Austin ISD Schools, Offices Closed Thursday and Friday
Austin ISD schools and offices will close Thursday and Friday, Feb. 3-4, due to expected winter weather and road conditions. Today, all after-school activities are also canceled, including after-school care. Austin ISD COVID-19 testing hubs and vaccination sites will also be closed during this time. If the board approves a resolution, the district will not need to make up these two days.

AISD Closed for Spring (Student/Staff) Holiday All AISD campuses and district offices will be closed Friday, April 6 and Monday, April 9. Schools and offices will reopen for normal business hours Tuesday, April 10. Emergencies should be reported to AISD Police at 414-1703.
