Español YOU COUNT! Attendance Matters When you miss school, you miss out—not only on academic enrichment, but on fine arts and extracurricular opportunities and camaraderie with fellow students. Daily attendance in school is a strong indicator of future success. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s mastery of the instructional materials.
End-of-Year Review Highlights AISD Successes
AISD began the 2013–14 school year on Aug. 26, 2013, with more than 85,000 students, including 561 Grizzlies at the district’s newest facility, Janis Guerrero Thompson Elementary, which opened this year. During the first week of school, Superintendent Dr. Meria Carstarphen and other district leaders visited 14 schools to welcome students and staff.
Texas Education Agency Says AISD Exceeds All Targets of State Accountability System Overall
According to the Texas Education Agency's preliminary state accountability ratings released today, 111 of the district's schools have Met Standard-the highest rating available-on the state's accountability system.
