The Creative Learning Initiative to Receive $100,000 Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts
The Austin ISD Creative Learning Initiative has been approved for a $100,000 Grants for Arts Projects award. This one-year award will support increased access to the arts, including:
Child Care Program
The child care programs provide full day care for infants and toddlers of AISD staff and families at many campuses. The programs prioritize AISD staff for enrollment and when space is available the care is offered to other families in the community. AISD.TV has earned a pair of distinguished national awards from the Alliance for Community Media organization. Austin ISD’s television station is the winner of the Hometown Media Awards Overall Excellence in Educational Access. Bowie Student Places Third in State UIL Journalism
Recent Bowie High School graduate, Carl Heiser earned a third place Bronze medal in News Writing at the May 21 State University Interscholastic League academic contest. Heiser was Austin's only state finisher in the 5A category.
