Austin’s bag ban has only been in effect for two months, but already students at Hill Elementary School have capitalized on a way to help the city’s cause—and the environment—while also raising money for an annual fundraiser at the school. AISD Elementary Schools Receive $320,000 Grant to 'Fuel Up' Wellness
AISD has been awarded a $320,000 grant to implement Fuel Up to Play 60, a fun and interactive in-school nutrition and physical activity program, in all of the district's elementary schools. Austin elementary schools were selected from among hundreds of schools across the country that applied for funding to help them jumpstart and sustain healthy eating and physical activity improvements.
Austin ISD Offers Eligible Students Free and Reduced-Price Meals
As in previous years, Austin ISD is encouraging families to apply for free or reduced-price meals.A new meal benefits application must be submitted each school year. While applications are accepted throughout the school year, to ensure benefits go uninterrupted, applications should be submitted by Oct. 2 to receive free or reduced-price meals for the 2017–18 school year.
