Austin ISD Trustees Approve $1.86 Billion Budget for 2023–24
Board agrees to spend $52 million in savings to fund across-the-board pay raises Early Friday morning, the Austin ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve a $1.86 billion budget for the 2023–24 fiscal year, which starts on July 1. The most recent efforts at the Texas Capitol to create a school voucher program were defeated after lawmakers voted 84-63 to remove the creation of education savings accounts from the session’s education funding bill, HB 1. A coalition of all Democrats and 21 Republicans stood firm against the proposal that would use taxpayer dollars to pay for private schooling.
