National School Bus Safety Week is October 17-21
Austin ISD will say thank you to its transportation employees during National School Bus Safety Week, October 17-21. This year’s theme is, “Be Aware – Know the Danger Zone!”Transportation employees will be recognized on Monday, October 17 at 6:00 a.m. at the Saegert terminal and on Tuesday, October 17 at 6:00 a.m. at the Nelson terminal. Refreshments will be provided for employees.
Help AISD Teacher Win $10,000 for Blast Literacy Program
Oak Hill Elementary School first-grade teacher Renae Hernandez is a top 10 finalist for a $10,000 grant called the Rather Prize, which annually recognizes the best idea for improving Texas education.The grant would go toward materials and teacher training at Oak Hill for a program called Blast Foundations.

School Choice Fair
The AISD School Choice Fair is held yearly to allow students and parents the opportunity to explore the various programs offered at these specific middle school campuses. Representatives from the Ann Richards School, Fulmore Magnet School, Kealing Magnet School and the new Single-gender Schools in District One, Garcia/Pearce will be on hand to answer questions and showcase their campus programs.
World Languages
A World of Opportunity There are endless benefits to learning a second language and culture. Students who study a second language increase their global awareness and understanding, improve literacy in their native language, are better prepared for college, have more employment opportunities, and have a greater appreciation for the arts.
Back to School Bash 2019
Join us from 8 a.m.–noon at the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road. Back to School Bash is a free event that brings thousands of families together to prepare students for the new school year. Initiatives
Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble performs original theatre on teen relationships for youth audiences. Local middle and high school age youth develop scenes, scripts, props, and scenery for a new production each year.
